I am saddened to hear that John Carson's unique and extensive collection of my work is to be broken up and sold as individual items. I know just how much John worked until his untimely death on trying to ensure that he had a fairly complete collection of first editions - even some reprints and foreign language editions - as well as short story volumes. He always told me that it was his wish that his collection, along with our correspondence, would eventually be donated to his local university library when he was living in Cornwall, Ontario. - Peter Tremayne.'

PETER TREMAYNE AND JOHN CARSON (1932-2000).  A celebration dinner in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. Peter had just been lecturing on Celtic Studies at Sydney University in Nova Scotia and was staying with John and his wife Shirley. Peter regarded John as his “No 1 North American Fan” and John, at the time of his death had a collection of practically every first edition of Peter’s works. Peter dedicated Hemlock At Vespers, the Sister Fidelma short story collection, to John which appeared only a few months before John’s sad death.
